Welcome to Understanding Econometrics, a growing collection of conceptual slides designed to make technical ideas clear and intuitive.

Ultimately, the site will cover the majority of the central technical concepts needed for an undergraduate economics degree. It will also be of use to graduate students in economics and to maths students.

The material is intended to complement lecture notes and other university materials which students often find difficult to read, unlocking these by giving the gist of key concepts and explaining how to think about them intuitively.

The focus is on visualisation and illustrative examples, rather than rigour, proofs, and formulae. As such, the slides are designed to be read as stand-alone introductions to concepts. Each slide is also supported by optional clarification and technical notes for those who want to explore further.

Choose a subject and then a topic, or click “random slide” to get started!

You can also use the search bar to find topics quickly, and press ← and → to move between slides.
